Blackberry Remember

Blackberry 10 price cuts in Europe, Netflix says no to a Blackberry app, and Sprint will carry only one BB10 smartphone

The price of the Blackberry Z10 is being cut by two major UK retailers, Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone. A Pacific Crest analyst by the name of James Faucette is quoted as saying, “We believe that meaningful price cuts so soon after launch, while probably at the initial discretion of the carriers, is likely to relegate the Z10 to being a mid-tier device with very low gross margins.”

The European price cuts may be a precursor of thing to come in the United States for Blackberry, but what is certain at the moment is that Blackberry’s popularity has certainly faltered and is nothing close to what it use to be.

Yahoo recently dropped support for their Blackberry app. An even greater insult than that of struggling Yahoo’s abandonment of Blackberry though came just a few days ago also though when Netflix said that they have no current intention on supporting the BlackBerry 10. A Netflix spokesperson is quoted as saying, “We have no current plans for a BlackBerry app”.

The Blackberry Z10, which can be said to be Blackberry’s newest and sleekest design, isn’t even going to be picked up by America’s number 3 mobile carrier, Sprint. Instead Sprint is only going to sell only one model, the Q10. A Sprint spokesman by the name of Mark Elliott is quoted as saying, “We aren’t saying there’s anything different about our customers. We think our customers will be happy with the QWERTY keyboard and touch screen on the Q10.”

Any glance around the Internet at comments from those that have purchased the Blackberry 10 clearly shows that the buyers of the device have overwhelmingly been happy with the purchase. The interface is new, creative, well put together and well designed multitasking OS. Here’s a look at some of the latest BB10 accessories:

Blackberry even came out with their first BB10 update just a few days ago, making major improvements on a number of things.

The question isn’t really whether or not Blackberry has a good product, but whether or not they can get enough of the world interested in purchasing it – and that remains to be seen.
